Heather Kesler
Chief Executive Officer

We are not a big corporation removed from the day-to-day. We are a team of people who feel a deep purpose in this work, led by leaders who show up, listen, and care deeply about every resident.

Four of our six communities carry a name close to our founder's heart: Belle. She was our founder's grandmother, a gifted artist whose love for painting remained a bright, constant joy in her life, even as she faced the challenges of dementia. She continued to create, continued to connect, and in the moments that mattered most, she continued to be herself.
Her journey shaped everything about how we care. We do not ask our residents to meet us where we are. We meet them where they are, honor who they have always been, and celebrate the moments that bring joy, comfort, and connection.
When you step into a 1019 Belle's Place community, you step into a space built in her honor and in the honor of every resident whose story deserves to be told, remembered, and celebrated.

James and Heather took their mothers to Hana, Maui. A remote stretch of coastline that looks the way Hawaii did a hundred years ago. It was a bucket list trip for both now widowed mothers, each of whom had planned to make the journey with her husband. And James's mother has Alzheimer's that severely affected her short-term memory.
Every morning, they walked to the same restaurant. Every morning, she looked around as if she had never been there before. Then the Hawaiian toast arrived, thick and golden, something close to French toast. She tasted it. "This is the best French toast I've ever had." Every single morning. On the flight home, she told James she could not wait to get to Hawaii. He watched a few moments then took out this phone. Waterfalls. The beach. Her face, bright in the sun. "Oh, we did," she said. "Look how great."
James does not share this story as a tragedy. He shares it as an instruction. None of it was lost on her: not the French toast, not the waterfalls, not the warmth of the sun, not the company of people who loved her. The moment defined her experience. Not the memory of it.
